A QUARTERLY UPDATE FOR MEMBERS OF WNED | WBFO'S LEADERSHIP AND LEGACY GIVING PROGRAMS October 2017 Leadership Report Donor Spotlight Jim and Michal Wadsworth, of Buffalo, NY, are longtime members of WNED | WBFO. Jim, who was born and raised in Buffalo, remembers his mother's love and support of the station. She always encouraged him to do the same. Michal grew up on Long Island, NY and learned about philanthropy at the knee of her step-mother, Patricia Oishei Colby. As a result, she understood from a young age the importance of community service. Philanthropy has been a shared passion since the beginning of Jim and Michal's relationship, when they met at a Buffalo fundraising event in 1991, and remains a constant in their life. They began as volunteers at several organizations and now provide financial support to 35 nonprofits in the region. They give to arts and community organizations along with healthcare and academic institutions. Both serve as chairs and officers on several community and foundation boards in Western New York including Jim's current position as Chair of the John R. Oishei Foundation. WNED | WBFO is a standout among the organizations Jim and Michal support because they feel that the programming is the best out there. Furthermore, they find the on-air staff is second to none. For instance, Jim and Michal know that they can listen to Classical 94.5 anytime and hear program hosts who have knowledge of classical music along with proper diction and pronunciation of pieces and composers. They enjoy WNED-TV, WBFO 88.7 FM, and Classical 94.5 WNED and tune in to each station often. Jim and Michal's story of giving is unique in that they offer generous personal support, give through foundations in which they are involved, and assist with corporate funding from Hodgson Russ LLP where Jim has been an attorney since 1964. In the spirit of tradition, Jim and Michal have no doubt instilled the same sense of community service in their six children and ten grandchildren. Thank you, Jim and Michal for your commitment to WNED | WBFO!
